Grain for sale by farms
Farms offer a load here, without their name or exact place. Grain buyers bid on it, and the farm sees every bid side by side and picks one. Then the farm and that buyer get each other’s details and write the contract between them.

No loads on the board right now. Buyers: get an email when one goes up. Farms: offer a load.
Have grain to sell?
Offer a load from your GrainPosition book: crop, tonnes, grade and test results, and when it can move. It goes on this board, and to the grain buyers on GrainPosition’s list near you, if there are any. Bids come to you in the app, with whether each buyer holds a Grain Commission licence and what each comes to at your farm after your own trucking cost.

How it works, and what GrainPosition doesn’t do
- The farm offers a load in its GrainPosition book. GrainPosition looks it over before it goes out.
- Buyers bid from the link in their email: a price per tonne or per bushel, delivered or picked up at the farm, a delivery window and any terms.
- The farm picks a bid, or none. The buyer it picks gets the farm’s name, email and phone, and the farm gets the buyer’s. The others are told the farm went with another bid.
- The farm and the buyer write the contract between them, as they would after a phone call.
GrainPosition doesn’t buy or sell grain, take possession of it or handle payment, and it isn’t a party to the contract. The Canadian Grain Commission confirmed in writing that this needs no Grain Commission licence. The company that contracts with a western Canadian farm and buys its grain is the one that needs the licence: each bid shows whether the buyer said it holds one, checked against the Commission’s list of licensed companies. A farm may sell to a company that isn’t licensed, but at its own risk: none of the Canada Grain Act’s protections apply, payment protection included. Check a delivery’s payment protection.
GrainPosition doesn’t tell anyone whether or when to sell, or what price to take.
