Your grain book, with Ontario's rules
Corn, soybeans and wheat sold to Ontario dealers: every contract, scale ticket and settlement in one place, each settlement checked, and the dates Ontario's grain rules set counted for you.
What it does for an Ontario farm
- When you should be paid. A licensed dealer pays by the 10th business day after delivery, with Ontario's holidays skipped (O. Reg. 377/25, s. 19). A settlement not marked paid by then turns into the last day to claim from the Grain Financial Protection Program, counted strictly.
- The 60% on a delayed price contract. Grain delivered on a basis, futures-only or price-later contract without a final price: 60% of the market price is due by the same 10th business day, the rest the day you price it (s. 20).
- Agricorp's yield report dates for the crops you grow: winter wheat by September 1; canola, spring grains and spring wheat by October 31; corn and soybeans by December 15.
- Contracts the way Ontario writes them. Fixed, basis set with futures later, futures only (HTA), price later, averaging or minimum price, over Chicago corn, soybeans or wheat in US dollars a bushel, with the contract's exchange rate (or the Bank of Canada's, if you pick it), and the price-by date in Coming up.
- Every settlement checked against its contract and the tickets it pays for: weight, grade, price and each deduction explained, with a message for the buyer ready when something doesn't match.
- No Prairie rules where they don't apply. An Ontario farm doesn't get the Grain Commission's 7-day grade window, its payment protection or its shrink check.
- From a photo. Photograph a contract, ticket or settlement and the form fills itself in; or import the spreadsheet you keep.

Not built for Ontario yet
Said plainly, so nothing here is a promise: checking that a contract states everything Ontario's regulation asks a written agreement to state; checking the GFO check-off and Board fee lines on a settlement; Agricorp's list of licensed dealers; and GFO's monthly average prices. The Prices tab uses Statistics Canada's monthly Ontario prices until then.

Does GrainPosition know Ontario's grain payment rules?
Yes. For a farm in Ontario, Coming up counts the date a licensed dealer has to pay, the 10th business day after delivery with Ontario's holidays skipped (O. Reg. 377/25, s. 19), and, if a settlement isn't marked paid, the last day to claim from the Grain Financial Protection Program. On a delayed price contract with grain delivered, it shows the 60% of the market price due by the same day (s. 20). It also lists Agricorp's production insurance yield report dates for the crops you grow.
Does it handle basis contracts over Chicago futures?
Yes. A contract can be fixed price, basis set with futures later, futures only (HTA), price later, averaging or minimum price, with the futures month, the basis and the exchange rate as the contract states them. Corn, soybeans and wheat futures are in US dollars a bushel; the flat price is worked out once both legs are set.
Does it show the Grain Commission's 7-day grade window for Ontario?
No. Ontario farms don't get the Prairie-only rules. Ontario's grade disputes follow the Code of Practice for barley, canola, corn, oats and wheat (24 hours from delivery) and the soybean agreement; the free grade dispute page writes one for you.
What isn't built for Ontario yet?
Checking that a contract has everything Ontario's regulation asks a written agreement to state, checking the GFO check-off and Board fee lines on settlements, Agricorp's dealer licence list, and GFO's monthly average prices. Until then the Prices tab uses Statistics Canada's monthly Ontario prices.

Were you paid right on your last grain settlement?
Send me a photo of the settlement, and the contract if you have it. Within a day I’ll email you back what each line is, what’s worth asking the buyer about, and any grade or payment deadline that’s still open. Free, no account.
